Power Engineers Examining Board

Holds examinations for licensing of Stationary Boiler Engineers and Stationary Boiler Firemen.
POWER ENGINEERS TESTING WILL RESUME AT CITY FACILITIES ON  JUNE 1 , 2021 at the Municipal Services Center at 1551 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway
To sign up for the test, please apply as a new applicant Power Engineer/ Fireman License Application- NEW APPLICANTS 

Test site will be limited to a maximum 10 testing applicants to allow for social distancing.  Applications will be taken on a first come, first serve basis.  Once we have filled the 10 testing applicants for the month, additional applications received will be moved to the following months test time.

Testers shall bring a pencil, photo ID and basic calculator. Cell phones can not be used as a calculator. 


General Requirements

Six members: 5 members shall be recommended by the Mayor; the Senior Mechanical Inspector shall be an ex officio member. Board members shall not be interested, directly or indirectly, in the sale or agency of any equipment, apparatus, or service that could be construed in any manner as affecting his or her impartial judgment. TERM LIMITS DO NOT APPLY

Professional Requirements

Each appointee shall be the holder of a first-class engineer's license in the City.

Meeting Information

Regular meetings and examinations are held separately. Other meetings may be scheduled to hear appeals from decisions of the Senior Inspector or to deal with special issues. Examinations, which are regularly held on the first Tuesday of every month, require the presence of board members to assist in the proctoring and grading of exams.
