5/9/2019 Mosquito control people have been out treating standing water with larvicide, and setting up our trap sites. Next week helicopter drop is schedule to treat 500 acres of standing water around our rivers within the City limits. Polk County will also be treating waters outside the City limits. Surveillance is scheduled to start next week, we will monitor the counts to meet thresholds before any adult spraying will begin.

Encephalitis Monitoring Project
We will be operating our encephalitis monitoring project in conjunction with Iowa State University. This project involves the trapping, and identifying, of adult mosquito populations throughout the summer in an effort to provide an early warning to the general public during times of an increased potential for disease transmission through mosquito bites.
