Low-Density Residential Tax Abatement


What are Low-Density Residential Structures?
  • Single-family dwellings.  
  • “Low-Density Residential” means House A, B, C and D building types as defined in Municipal 
    Code Sections 135-2.13 through 135-2.16 and containing one household unit.
What Projects are Eligible for Abatement?
Improvements to properties with structures that contain one household/dwelling unit are eligible for tax abatement schedules in this category.  Common projects in this category include:
  • New homes.
  • Renovations to existing structures.
  • New accessory structures.  
To be eligible for abatement, projects must:
  1. Comply with all City requirements and;
  2. Increase the property's assessed value by at least 5% and;
  3. Permits must be issued for work that requires permits.

  •  To meet additional insulation requirements, walls ,excluding foundation walls, that separate conditioned space from unconditioned space shall have a minimum R-value of 20.
  • To meet EV charging capable requirements, garages, if provided, shall contain a level 2 electric vehicle charging station in accordance with Municipal Code Section 135-2.22.4.B, or an electrical box and raceway for future installation of such level 2 electric vehicle charging station.
