Outdoor Fires and Grilling

One of the best parts of summer - rolling out the grill, firing it up and throwing some sizzling meats and vegetables over the flames and relaxing with a cold drink in the hot sun. Summer really is not just construction season here, it's also grilling season. Every year approximately 50 or more fires in Des Moines are attributed to cooking or grilling. Check out the quick steps in the video to the right you can take before you fire up the grill to keep yourself and your property safe - a burger on the grill is great, but it's not worth your house.

And if you're looking for open burning, check out the document center below for our rules, procedures and guidelines.
