
The City’s first parks date to 1894 when land for the first four parks was purchased. They include:
- Greenwood Park
- Union Park
- Waveland Park (Now Waveland Golf Course)
- Grandview Park

Signature parks include:

Throughout our 75 parks you can enjoy a variety of features like:
- Basketball, Tennis, Horseshoe, and Volleyball courts
- BMX and Soap box derby tracks
- Boat and bicycle rentals

Today the Parks and Recreation works with volunteers to uncover and document the history of the park system and the parks. The result is a series of presentations and documents that are presented regularly to the Parks and Recreation Board.
