The Adopt-a-Park and Adopt-a-Trail program is a partnership between Des Moines Parks and Recreation, community members, public or private organizations and local businesses to assist in the cleanup and beautification of parks and trails. Please see the resources below for more information.

How to Apply
  1. Read the program description, review the checklist, and read the Return to Play Protocol.
  2. Gather your friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, or organization (or just yourself!) and brainstorm which park or trail section you might want to adopt, or check out the list of adoptable areas below.
  3. Determine how much time you are willing to spend and what type of schedule you may want to have to do cleanups.
  4. Designate a Volunteer Leader and fill out the Adopt-a-Park/Trail Agreement.
  5. Send Agreement to the Field Coordinator at parksvolunteer@dmgov.org to review. The Field Coordinator will contact the group leader to coordinate the remaining details.
Note: Single-day cleanup events are also welcome. Email parksvolunteer@dmgov.org with any questions.
