Blank Park Zoo
The mission of the Blank Park Zoo is to inspire an appreciation of the natural world through conservation, education, research and recreation. The zoo has been a part of the Des Moines metro community since 1963 and hosts several events throughout the year including Night Eyes, Zoo Brew and more.
Brenton Skating Plaza
Located on the Principal Riverwalk along the Des Moines River, this ice skating facility and family entertainment venue opened in 2006 thanks to a gift from the Brenton Foundation. From November to March, the facility offers open air skating for all ages.
In the summer, the Canopy at Brenton Skating Plaza transforms the facility into an outdoor event venue, playing host to community events, outdoor concerts, weddings, wedding receptions and other gatherings.
Greater Des Moines Botanical Gardens
The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden is a seven-acre public garden located on the Principal Riverwalk along the Des Moines River. The organization provides innovative programming and dynamic exhibits while also hosting a slate of public and private events.
This 11,500 stadium hosts a variety of events throughout the year including the Iowa State Baseball Tournament and home games for the Iowa Cubs.
