Youth Sports

YouthProgramsPeeWee (Pre-k and Kindergarten)  sports programs are offered to introduce children to sports basics in a fun atmosphere and provide game situations that help children learn how to be good teammates.

Youth sports programs are also offered for children in grades 1 through 7. Youth leagues use certified officials and have a reputation for being some of the best in the area.

PeeWee Sports

Kiddie Kickball

This program introduces children to team sports, teammates, and game situations while learning the basics of Kickball in a fun atmosphere. Each team is coed and will have a parent-coach volunteer. All equipment, including a jersey, will be provided. This program is six weeks long and includes two practices followed by four games.

Please register your child in his/her current grade as of the 2021/2022 school year.

Coed teams will be divided into separate grades, unless numbers do not allow, then we will modify the divisions as needed.

Youth Basketball

The 1st grade age group will practice and play Saturday mornings at a school TBD for 1 hour. The first half will be used to practice, and the second half will be used to scrimmage. This layout allows for the players to learn a skill, and then implement it in game play directly following practice.

Grades 2-7th: 
This program is geared toward teaching youth the basic fundamentals of football in a fun and exciting atmosphere. Parent-coach volunteers will lead teams during practices and games. Teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive attitudes will also be a focus throughout this program. All equipment is provided, including a team jersey.  

Teams will be divided into boys and girls and separate grades, unless numbers do not allow, then we will modify the divisions as needed. Scores will be kept and referees provides for grades 2-7th.

Youth Soccer

Grades 1-2 will play game-like situations lead by the coaches. The 1-2 grade teams will practice and play Saturday mornings. The 3-7 grade teams will practice on weeknights and play games Saturday.

Youth Tennis Clinics

Youth Tennis Ages 5-8:
Children learn the basic elements of tennis through a combination of techniques and partner-based activities to develop hand/eye coordination, motor skills and sending/receiving the ball. Team competition is introduced. The use of specially designed equipment and professional instruction offer an age range appropriate, positive and fun experience.

Morning Clinic: Monday - Thursday - 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Evening Clinic: Tuesday and Thursday - 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Youth Tennis Ages 9-10: 

Children start to refine their technical mechanics. Racquet head speed, serve and return and transition to the net are stressed. Competition is emphasized more, including the basic strategic and tactical concepts of singles and doubles play.

Morning Clinic: Monday - Thursday - 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Evening Clinic: Tuesday and Thursday - 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Youth Tennis Ages 11-14:

Players in the beginning levels of development will be introduced to stroke mechanics and technique. As players improve the teaching pros will transition to stroke development and shot selection. More advanced techniques with a larger array of shots will be addressed with the focus of implementing match play strategies. It is recommended that players at the upper levels of this class start to enter tournaments (USTA Level 7 or 6, UTR, and Team Challenge tournaments.)

Players will continue to refine the technical, tactical, and physical foundation established in prior stages. Players will be better able to execute patterns of play, vary the spin and depth of their shots, and select the correct footwork pattern to strike the ball.

Youth Volleyball

This program is geared toward teaching youth the basic fundamentals of volleyball in a fun and exciting atmosphere. Parent-coach volunteers will lead teams during practices and games. Teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive attitudes will also be a focus throughout this program. All equipment is provided, including a team jersey.  

Coed teams will be divided into grades: 1-3, 4-5 & 6-7. Unless numbers do not allow, then we will modify the divisions as needed. Scores will be kept and referees provided for grades 4-7. Grades 1-3 will play game-like situations lead by the coaches. 

The 1-3 grade teams will practice and play Saturday mornings at Pioneer Columbus Community Recreation Center. The 4-7 grade teams will practice on Saturdays and play games during the week but the days have not been decided as they will depend on gym availability.
