9-1-1 Emergency Services
Dispatchers receive emergency calls and send responders to the emergency. They are qualified to provide medical instructions over the telephone before the emergency responders arrive.
Dispatchers may use these programs to communicate emergency situations:
- CodeRed – an emergency notification system used to make mass emergency telephone notifications. This is used for situations like:
- emergency evacuations
- school lockdowns
- gas leaks
- hazardous materials alerts
- Language Link – an over-the-telephone interpretation service – to assist with non-English speaking callers

9-1-1 for Kids
The Communications Section provides training on when and how to call 9-1-1. The program is for kindergarten through second grade students and provides children with the skills they need to call for emergency assistance.
