Domestic Abuse

DART investigators work with a Victim Advocate from Children and Families of Iowa to reach out to victims of domestic violence.

The Domestic Abuse Resource Team (DART) investigate crimes against children through the Internet.  This includes managing the Sex Offender Registry  and investigating computer forensic crimes.  You can find more information at the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force website.

A Victim Resource Officer (VRO) works with DART to investigate domestic cases and violations of no-contact orders.  The primary responsibility of the VRO is to notifying victims’ family members of violent deaths such as:
  • Accidental death
  • Homicide
  • Infant death
  • Motor vehicle fatalities
  • Suicide

Many of the cases are handled as joint investigations with Child Protective Investigators, the Polk County Attorney's Office, and medical personnel.
You can contact the Family Conflict Section Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at (515) 283-4864.
