River Level Monitoring & Reporting
The City of Des Moines uses stream gages to know when to begin flood fighting.  We use stream gages at these locations to measure and monitor the depth of rivers and creeks:
  • Raccoon River at Fleur Drive
  • Des Moines River at 2nd Ave
  • Des Moines River at SE 6th St

The City of Des Moines is partnered with Clive and West Des Moines on an Early Flood Warning System. This system monitors rain intensity and creek depth for Four Mile Creek and Walnut Creek.
