ForestryCommunity-InvolvementTreeKeepers
Become a TreeKeeper Volunteer and learn to plant, prune, and advocate for our community’s trees! Together we learn about the benefits of trees, urban tree stressors, tree identification, tree care, tree hazards and more. Join nearly 200 TreeKeeper volunteers who help make Des Moines a greener place to live and a Tree City USA. Sign up for the volunteer training and you can be part of this hard-working, fun-loving, tree-hugging group.

The next TreeKeepers training series will be held Tuesday evenings on April 2nd, 9th, and 16th, 2019.

TreeKeepers is a partnership between Trees Forever and the City of Des Moines.

New additions to the neighborhood on SW 9th and Grand Avenue!
This is all part of the City of Des Moines ongoing plan to increase our urban canopy coverage. You can see a virtual map of the new trees at desmoinesia.mytreekeeper.com/. You can use this website to learn about the trees on your street or neighborhood as well. Give it a try today! If you or your neighborhood would like to help grow the city's urban forest please contact sdmcquillan@dmgov.org

2019 IMT Des Moines Marathon
This is an exciting event each fall. Because trees are so important to the running community, we are thrilled to plant 26.2 trees during this year's IMT Des Moines Marathon. The City of Des Moines Forestry, Trees Forever, and TreeKeeper volunteers will be along the route hard at work planting 26 trees and 2 seedlings (or 0.2 trees!) as runners navigate the course. These trees will provide future runners shade for years to come.
