City Opens Compost Center Additional Day

DES MOINES, IOWA – Monday, August 17, 2020 – Following last week’s storm, residents have dropped off nearly 2,900 loads of storm-related debris in just four days. In response to the huge turnout, the City of Des Moines Public Works Department announced today that the MWA Compost Center (1601 Harriett Street) will be open again Saturday, August 22 from 7 a.m.-2 p.m.

The City’s regular SCRUB guidelines apply. The opportunity is for Des Moines residents only. Proof of residency is required. Trailers must be single axle. Commercial haulers must use the landfill.
