City Observes Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

DES MOINES, IOWA – Friday, January 15, 2021 – The City will observe the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday on Monday, January 18, 2021. Collection of garbage, recycling and yard waste will not be delayed due to the holiday.

Due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus (COVI-19) outbreak, Des Moines City Administration Buildings are currently closed to the public through at least March 1, 2021.

All locations of the Des Moines Public Library will be closed on Monday, January 18. The annual Forest Avenue Library MLK Day Celebration will take place virtually.
