LifeServe Firefighter Appreciation Blood Drive
DES MOINES, IOWA – Thursday, April 25, 2019 – In honor of Firefighter Appreciation Day, May 4, and in cooperation with the Des Moines Fire Department, LifeServe Blood Center will be conducting a blood drive from Thursday, May 2 to Saturday, May 4. During the summer, LifeServe typically sees a decrease in the amount of blood donated but an increase in the amount needed, making this a timely opportunity for residents to help save lives in their community.
"Someone needs blood every two seconds, so we're calling on our local community members to roll up a sleeve and be a hero with us this summer."
Percy Coleman, City of Des Moines Assistant Fire Chief
Donation times will begin at 7 a.m. Thursday and Saturday, 6:30 a.m. Friday, at LifeServe’s East Village and Urbandale locations. Donors will enjoy treats and event-specific t-shirts.
